Characteristics of Effective Learning:

Playing and Exploring

Active Learning

Creating and Thinking Critically

Together with the Prime and Specific Areas these comprise the knowledge, skills and experience that are developmentally appropriate for the children from birth to five years. Underpinning all areas are the E.Y.F.S principles

Healthy Eating

At Jumping Beans Nursery, we regard snack and meal times as an important part of our day. Eating represents a social time for children and adults, and helps children to learn about healthy eating. At snack times we aim to provide nutritious food, which meets the children's individual dietary needs.

We ask our parents to provide a piece of fruit or vegetable.

We supply a choice of milk and water to drink throughout the day, the children will have a carbohydrate (such as bread sticks or crackers) to accompany their fruit.

We ask parents to supply a health packed lunch.

During each term we will participate in healthy eating activities.

Physical Development

Daily physical activity supports children’s gross and fine motor skills, mental health, wellbeing and self-regulation. This helps children to be able to control their feelings, emotions and actions better.

Where Jumping Beans is situated it  enables us to explore different types of physical activities, running on the field, climbing trees, using bikes and generally exploring the outside environment.
